the "FLOWER of SCOTLAND"

Yes, the thistle is the National Flower of Scotland. And, being of Scottish/Irish ancestry and having had the privilege of traveling to Scotland more than once, I have a "fondness" for the beauty of the thistle.  This is just one of several embroidered designs done for me by Farmgirl, Paula. Isn't it just beautiful!

  1. What a beautiful design and wonderful embroidery. You just have the luck of the Irish, don't you?

  2. By the way, what is your maiden name? Scot or Irish?

  3. Maiden name is "Gardner". Just like "Armstrong" there are some Scottish and some Irish. The "Gardners" are a sept of the Scottish Highland "Gordon" clan.

  4. Glad you like the pretty thistles! I just love that design. Maybe someday I'll make something for myself with that pattern ;-)
